About Us.
Strathclyde Fire Brigade Preservation Group was formed in 1995.
The group’s aims and objectives are:-
1. To promote and encourage interest in the history of the Fire Service
with an emphasis on the history of fire fighting in Strathclyde and
the constituent Brigades that made up Strathclyde Fire Brigade now
Strathclyde Fire and Rescue.
2. To bring together those interested in the preservation, operation
and display of fire fighting vehicles and equipment of all ages and
to provide an opportunity for the exchange of ideas and information.
3. To restore and maintain for the benefit of the public, a fleet
of historic fire fighting appliances, fire brigade equipment and related
artefacts, publications and documents.
4. To work in conjunction with Strathclyde Fire and Rescue and the
Community Safety department therein, to promote the Fire Safety message
by using in part, the history of the Fire Service.
5.. To attend where possible, and as requested, organised events especially
those with a charitable cause.
6. To establish a permanent home for the appliances
and collection of memorabilia, while operating a ‘Preservation Through Operation’ policy
and by providing a ‘Living Museum’ facility.
7. To establish links with other Preservation Groups, Fire Brigade
Museums and like minded organisations, with the aim of exchanging
information and ideas.
8. To promote the work of the Preservation Group through the Ayeready
website.
