A4 NorthWest
RGD 999G in rear drill yard of North West This
was known as a H.P.P or Hydraulic Platform Pump, due to its construction
with a inbuilt Pump and water tank ( 100 Gal ) it could provide
a source of water for emergency fire fighting if it attended a fire
and arrived first without any back up pumps. the booms had a reach
of 70 feet from the SS70 Simon Snorkel, note this appliance
is usually shown with Hub Caps.

HPP RGD 999G
This appliance was first used at the James Watt Street fire on
18th.November 1968.
The appliance was brand new at the time not even on the run.
On the day on of the fire it was undergoing driver and operator
training and was requested from the fireground.

Note the rear mounted hosereel and the senior Officer as operator
This is the HPP undergoing a tilt test to discover the point that
it will topple over, usually designed to be in excess of 35 degrees
from the vertical .

Three appliances at the front of the North West Fire Station around
1975, from left to right a Dodge Water tender Ladder, the
70 foot HPP, and the Foam Tender, usually two Water Tender
Ladder's were stationed Here but only one is showing.

Note that Bells were still being utilized as warning
devices, at this time, as displayed on the Foam Tender.
At the moment most of the Pictures are in Black
and White, if I can locate any more in color I will append as they
become available.
